Progress on Week 2...

I'm sorry it has taken me a while to post this.  Matt had to travel this week and both kids have been sick, so needless to say, posting on my progress has been the last thing on my mind.  But, I'm happy to report that week 2 went really well.  I bought a pedometer which is the best investment I have made in a really long time.  It's so fun to see how many steps you take in a day.  On several websites, I have heard that you should reach for 10,000 steps a day.  If I get my 30-45 minute walk in, it's not a problem to hit that on a normal day, when I don't, it is pretty difficult.  That walk is crucial.

Another thing I am really starting to notice is that when I eat healthy, regular meals, I feel really good, my health is noticeably better.  When I don't, I can really notice it too.  I crave more junk food and I feel quite yucky.  I do my best to eat well-balanced meals.

My favorite thing that I have gotten from this is smoothies.  I love smoothies, and I have really come quite partial to green smoothies.  When I drink one, I feel so refreshed and refueled.  100% goodness in a glass.  It curbs my sweet tooth too which is a plus.

I'll comment on my progress for this week much quicker so I can be a little more detailed.

Progress on Week 1...

Week one went pretty good.  I ate more sugar than I wanted to, Halloween candy, Matt's b-day cake, lots of treats for lots of different things, but by the end of the week, I had had it.  I am tired of having a headache everyday and I know it is sugar related.  I would be doing so well if I could only control my sugar intake.  I know that it will only lead to problems, big problems, in the future, so I just have to take control now.  I'm going to take it one day at a time, no treats!  If I feel like I need a treat, I'm going to try to find a healthy alternative, or just limit myself.  I found a quote I really like too, this is going to become my new motto:

"Remember it's not the first bite that will Shamu you, it's scarfing the whole thing down."

See, I scarf the whole thing down and then some--gotta work on that.  LOVE this quote though, I think it's so funny.

I also bought a pedometer and have been counting my steps.  They say you should hit about 10,000 a day to support a healthy lifestyle.  That's a lot, but you'd be surprised how quickly it adds up.  It is necessary to include walking for at least 30 minutes to hit it.

Another thing that I started doing that I LOVE--dancing.  I made a mix of about 30 minutes worth of songs and Tanner and I dance, chase each other around the house, and use that time to be silly.  Kate gets in on it too, and loves dancing with mommy--she giggles harder than I've ever heard her giggle.  Its so cute.  It is so fun, and funny enough, quite a workout (yesterday it bumped me up about 4000 steps!)

As far as my weight, I had gained a couple pounds when I wasn't focusing on it.  (Halloween candy is of the devil!!)  So, I am back up to 132.  Bummer, but I am going to get back down.  It is a little discouraging that I could have been really close to my goal by now if I had lost a pound a week instead of gaining, but you just keep going, I'll reach my goal!  I don't want to go out and buy a new pair of jeans, I want to wear my old ones, and I WILL!!!

I have my menu for this week too, I'll post it sometime today, Kate just woke up so this is my errand window.
